​Eric Dompreh conducted data collection in oil palm and cocoa producing areas of Ghana. In particular, he collected approximately 1000 household surveys and conducted several focus group discussions with certified and uncertified cocoa and oil palm farmers, and food crop farmers to understand the impacts of certification on land use change, livelihood shifts and social conflicts among others. The study sites were located in the Central and Eastern regions, and included certified cocoa farmers associated with the Agro Eco-Louis Bolk Institute (central region) and certified oil palm farmers associated with Serendipalm Company Limited (eastern region). The collected data contribute to our ongoing project on the political ecology of certification in oil palm and cocoa value chains funded by the Asahi Glass Foundation.
