Ahmed Abubakari conducted fieldwork in Ghana in August and September 2016. He surveyed around 200 households in the sugarcane areas of Dabala in the southeast of the country. These surveys tried to capture the main livelihood strategies and food security levels of sugarcane growers and other members of the local community. He also conducted biodiversity surveys in Dabala and areas surrounding oil palm (Kade) and jatropha plantations (Yeji).
