Alexandros Gasparatos and Davies Luhanga from COMSIP Malawi organised two stakeholder workshops in Lilongwe and Dwangwa, Malawi. These workshops disseminated to local stakeholders the key findings of past and ongoing research on the impact of industrial crop production in Malawi, funded by the UK Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) programme.
Participants in the Dwangwa workshop represented major stakeholder groups in the wider sugarcane area, including several sugarcane grower associations, the extension office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and EthCo, the major ethanol producer in the country.
The Lilongwe workshop brought together stakeholders from various organisations including civil society, international donors, private sector, academia and several ministries of the government of Malawi.
